Sting's 1985 anti-war song "Russians" was written during the Cold War following his observation of Soviet television, which highlighted a shared humanity despite political differences. Using a melody from Prokofiev, the song features a plea for peace and common humanity, which gained new relevance in 2022 when Sting re-recorded it as a charity single.
