As the passengers retreated to the shade of the bus, the Doctor and Christina climbed a nearby dune. Below them lay the ruins of a massive city, half-buried and gleaming. It wasn't built of stone, but of bone and metal. "What happened here?" Christina asked. [S0E13] Planet of the Dead

They weren't alone. A handful of London commuters were wandering out of the vehicle, squinting at the three suns. Among them was Nathan, a young man clutching a backpack, and Angela, a woman who had just been trying to get home to her kids. "Listen to me

He looked at her, the golden London sun setting behind him. "Not today," he said, though his hand trembled slightly. "But soon." Back inside

The Doctor grinned. "I like your spirit. But the bus is our only way back, and its wheels are buried. We need power, we need lift, and we need it before that swarm hits."

They soared toward the shrinking blue rift in the sky. Behind them, the first of the stingrays slammed into the sand where the bus had been seconds before.
