Upon entering, Hilda loses her equipment and must fight through the outskirts to reclaim it.
The curse stems from magical artifacts created by scholars Minerva and Eumenides . When the equipment malfunctioned, it transformed the city's inhabitants into semi-immortal beings who must consume Stardust (Magicite) to survive.
Hilda arrives at Aphes following the trail of her father's legion, which the king sent to investigate the city.
The game features two distinct endings based on player decisions. The narrative heavily emphasizes the bond between Hilda and Harold, with a final vocal theme titled "" that highlights their relationship. Hilda is also hinted to be a descendant of Minerva's bloodline, further tying her to the city's ancient history.
Aphes, a city inspired by Greco-Roman mythology, has been afflicted for millennia by a magical plague known as the .
Hilda eventually forms an uneasy alliance with Minerva —now a leader in the city—to find her father and seek a cure for the curse. She acts as an "errand girl," navigating the city's dangerous sectors like Arges Bazaar and Phalan Academy.
The story leads to a confrontation with Eumenides , the primary antagonist. Hilda's choices throughout the game—such as how she interacts with various factions—ultimately determine whether Aphes finds redemption or remains trapped in its cycle of suffering. Endings and Legacy
